Podlasie Region Week

Podlasie Region Week

Podlasie’s culture at Expo 2025: Chopin, pixel-pattern felt boots, puppet theatre, karate, and double-warp weaving.

A week dedicated to promoting the Podlaskie Region at the Poland Pavilion during Expo 2025. A rich artistic and workshop program showcased the diversity of the region.

As part of Podlaskie Region Week (April 13–19), the cultural heritage of the region was presented at the Poland Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka. Visitors could view animations inspired by Fryderyk Chopin and a regional promotional film. The symbolic artifact representing the region was a pair of pixel-pattern felt boots, designed based on the work of Leon Tarasewicz, which remained on permanent display throughout the week.

The Białystok Puppet Theatre performed an original production by Grzegorz Kasdepke titled How to Use a S.T.I.C.K., and each morning began with karate warm-ups led by world champion Piotr Sawicki. The program also featured a presentation of double-warp fabric – a unique form of regional handicraft – and daily concerts by the band Swada, known for blending traditional folk sounds with modern arrangements, bringing the lively spirit of Podlasie to the Expo audience.
