On September 18, 2025, Poland Pavilion at the World Expo in Osaka will host Warsaw Day – an event dedicated to the capital city, its history, science, and culture. The program will highlight themes close to the city’s identity: the legacy of Maria Skłodowska-Curie and Fryderyk Chopin, culinary workshops and the traditions of Warsaw’s gastronomy, as well as contemporary achievements of Poland’s largest metropolis.

Warsaw Day will take place as part of Poland. Tourism and Sports Week, held at Poland Pavilion during Expo 2025 from September 18 to 23. The event program has been prepared in cooperation with cultural and scientific institutions from Warsaw, as well as the City of Warsaw. On this special day, three main symbolic events are planned: Breakfast with Maria Skłodowska-Curie, an Afternoon Tea of Kings, and Dinner with Fryderyk Chopin.

The briefing breakfast (9:30 a.m.) will be combined with the launch of the Japanese edition of the book Maria Skłodowska-Curie, Albert Einstein | Letters /1911–1932 – made available to the Japanese public for the first time thanks to Polish-Japanese cooperation in publishing, museum, and city initiatives. The book contains correspondence between Maria Skłodowska-Curie and Albert Einstein, exchanged over 21 years. Each participant will receive a copy of this publication along with a small gift from Warsaw.

The Afternoon Tea of Kings (1:30 p.m.) will feature demonstrations of traditional baking workshops and tastings of Warsaw cakes and pastries, including braided chałka bread and desserts inspired by the royal tables of historic Warsaw. During a special demonstration, guests will also have the opportunity to prepare their own afternoon tea.

Dinner with Fryderyk Chopin (5:00 p.m.) is an evening combining music and cuisine. Dishes inspired by 19th-century Warsaw menus will be served to the sounds of Chopin’s piano miniatures. Performers and chefs will create a joint performance in which taste and sound come together to tell the historical story of the city.

Education, science, and culture – Warsaw in a modern light

Warsaw Day at Poland Pavilion during Expo 2025 will showcase not only the historical heritage of the capital but also its contemporary face. Warsaw captivates with its post-war reconstructed architecture and the striking contrast between modernity and the past. Among tourists from the Land of the Rising Sun, the Fryderyk Chopin Museum and the Old Town, rebuilt after the destruction of World War II, are of particular interest.

At the same time, Poland’s capital increasingly attracts visitors with its contemporary face, shaped by vibrant locations such as the Vistula Boulevards – a modern recreational and leisure space along the river, surrounded by greenery – and the Museum of Modern Art with its new central-city building. Scientific centers, research institutions, and cultural establishments make Warsaw an important hub for international scientific and artistic collaboration.

Warsaw Day will combine a historical narrative with culinary and musical experiences, while also presenting Poland’s capital as a dynamic metropolis of science and culture. It will provide a direct opportunity to engage with representatives of Warsaw’s institutions – museums, publishers, and research centers – as well as a chance to establish new cultural and scientific connections between Poland and Japan.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the partnership between Warsaw and the Japanese city of Hamamatsu, encompassing educational, cultural, and economic projects. Warsaw Day at Expo will therefore also be an opportunity to highlight the achievements of this long-standing city partnership.

The number of spots for certain events during Warsaw Day at Poland Pavilion at Expo 2025 is limited. In such cases, registration is required via the form provided in the organizer’s invitation.
