Regional weeks at Expo 2025 – presentation of Polish economy, culture and tourism

During the World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, eleven regions are carrying out their own promotional activities and have prepared a rich, comprehensive program. The regional weeks at Poland Pavilion in Osaka show the richness and diversity of the regions and their economic potential.

Each region has the opportunity to showcase its cultural heritage, economic potential and innovative achievements for several days. Artistic and cultural events are accompanied by economic missions.

Podlaskie, Lodzkie, Silesia, Lublin and West Pomerania Regions at Expo 2025

Podlaskie was the first to make its presence marked. As part of the Podlaskie Region Week from April 13 to 19, Poland Pavilion hosted attractive artistic performances, sports shows and presentations of local handicrafts. Visitors had the opportunity to hear, among other things, a concert by Sw@da – an artist from Podlasie Region who combines electronics with folk music. Also of great interest to visitors were karate demonstrations performed by Piotr Sawicki – four-time European kyokushin champion.

A fashion show of Lodz brands, concerts and educational workshops prepared by universities and colleges are just some of the attractions of the Lodzkie Region Week, which was presented from April 27 to May 3. The region presented its achievements in fashion, film art and modern textile technologies. The symbol of the Lodzkie Region at Expo 2025 in Osaka is Teddy Bear Uszatek – the hero of the cartoon series for children produced in the 1970s and 1980s by the Studio of Small Film Forms Se-Ma-For in Lodz.

During the Silesia Region Week from May 4-10, the Śląsk Song and Dance Ensemble performed on the stage of the Expo Festival Station in Osaka. At the end of the colorful, dynamic and highly impressive concert, they sang a touching song in Japanese. In addition, members of the Śląsk Ensemble prepared a polonaise dance lesson for visitors to Poland Pavilion. The Silesian Puppet and Actor Theater Ateneum from Katowice came to Osaka with a puppet show for the youngest organized a workshop on Polish cultural heritage meeting with cult heroes of Polish animation, using their heritage and experience in producing animated films. In turn, the University of Silesia in Katowice promoted the Silesian Science Festival at Expo 2025.

From May 14 to 20, Poland Pavilion hosted the Lublin Region, which focused on promoting tourism and the region’s cultural heritage. Performances by the Children and Youth Choir of the Lublin Opera and soloists Jakub Gąska and Paulina Janczaruk and violinist Andrzej Czaplinski, workshops conducted by educators from the Lublin Village Museum, folk craft demonstrations were just some of the attractions of the Event. Much attention was also given to the presentation of the economic potential of the Lublin region.

The program of West Pomerania Region Days (May 23-24) at Poland Pavilion includes jazz concerts performed by Sylwester Ostrowski, Makoto Kuriya with the Dorrey Lin Lynes band and Jakub Mizeracki, as well as workshops on upcycling – the art of reuse.

Pomorskie, Lower Silesian, Małopolska and Podkarpackie Regions at Expo 2025

The Pomorskie Region from May 25 to 29 offered, among other things, daily amber workshops “Baltic Treasures – Amber Inspirations” and handicraft workshops: “Flowers of Unity – Fusion of Polish and Japanese Paper Art” – demonstrations of creating Kashubian and Japanese flowers.

The Week of the Lower Silesian Region (June 24-30) will include a workshop on traditional stamping of handmade vessels combined with the promotion of Boleslawice ceramics, as well as a presentation on paper production and origami, organized by the Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki-Zdrój.

Małopolska Region Week (August 10-16) will be simultaneously combined with Polish Mountain Week. Concerts by the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic Orchestra in Krakow and the Mystkowianie band are scheduled. Miners-sculptors from the Wieliczka Salt Mine will present demonstrations of the art of carving in the bottom block.

During the Week of the Greater Poland Region from September 24 to 30, visitors will be greeted in front of Poland Pavilion by animations featuring characters in costumes from the “Kajko and Kokosz” comic series. This week’s program includes workshops in braiding, bauble decorating and canvas painting. Also scheduled is a presentation of an artifact from the resources of the Museum of the Origins of the Polish Nation in Gniezno, related to the beginnings of the Polish country.

The series of presentations of the achievements of Polish regions ends with the Podkarpackie Region Week on October 1-3. A promotional film and interesting presentations of regional crafts, culture, economy and tourism are being prepared especially for the occasion.

 Polish regions tempt foreign investors at Expo 2025

The regional weeks at Expo 2025 in Osaka are a unique opportunity to showcase Poland as a culturally rich, innovative country open to international cooperation.

Each of the regions has the opportunity to present their achievements in a unique way, combining tradition with modernity. The promotion of Polish regions at Expo 2025 enables the exchange of experience and knowledge with representatives of other countries. Thus, it is also an excellent opportunity to establish business contacts and promote Polish technologies. Thanks to the presentation of innovative solutions, Polish companies and scientific institutions gain new partners and investors.
