On May 5th, Japan’s Children’s Day, Poland Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka was filled with the sounds of the piano and the joyful energy of children. Taking their places at the piano were the winners of the Japanese edition of the “Music from Chopin’s Land” competition, who had the unique opportunity to celebrate their day by performing a concert at the very heart of the Pavilion. It was a beautiful encounter between cultures.

Before the recital, the young artists toured the permanent exhibition and met with Marta Zielińska, Deputy Commissioner General of the Polish Section. The event’s program – organized in cooperation with PWM and under the patronage of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute – also included a shared lunch at the Pavilion’s restaurant, a walk around the Expo grounds, and creative workshops.

Chopin as interpreted by children moved the audience – surprising everyone with its maturity, sensitivity, and fresh perspective on Poland’s musical heritage. The competition winners impressed not only with their technical skills but also with extraordinary musicality and emotional depth – remarkable for such a young age.
