Poland and the whole world are facing important challenges in terms of changing the ways of production and consumption. The COVID- 19 pandemic caused a decline in economic activity. Increasing productivity is therefore necessary and must go hand in hand with reducing the negative impact of our activities on the environment. The concepts of an innovative economy based on green technologies, sustainability, increased mobility and renewable energy will be one of the main themes of Expo 2020 in Dubai and a remedy to the global recession. The Polish Investment and Trade Agency, which is responsible for Poland’s participation in the World Expo, will showcase our country’s export potential and present it as an attractive destination for green investing.
Expo 2020 in Dubai starts in just two weeks. Postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Exhibition will be a unique opportunity to promote our country’s economy on the international arena.
For 170 years, World Expos have been the venue for the most important international events and the driving force behind the economic development of countries. Poland has enjoyed glorious moments in the history of World Expositions, with numerous successes and achievements of our companies. At Expo 2020 Dubai, the Polish Investment and Trade Agency will present, on behalf of Poland, such a broad and comprehensive programme for entrepreneurs for the first time in history.
Participants in the World Expo can admire the achievements of Polish creators of applied arts in the Poland Pavilion at Expo 2020 from 11 to 30 November 2021. During the temporary exhibition, Poland brings back more than 100 years of history of Polish design and presents contemporary achievements in this field. The organiser of the “On The Strength of Polish Design” exhibition is the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland.
The “Polish Table” installation will be one of the most spectacular elements of the exhibition in the Poland Pavilion at World Exhibition Expo 2020 Dubai. From October 1, it will become a place of multicultural meetings and welcoming the guests of the Pavilion, and at the same time, through an interactive, light projection, a place of contact with the Polish language. The „Polish Table” installation is a unique work of art, created from the raw materials characteristic of our country, such as copper, glass, wood, aluminium, ceramics and yacht-building steel, with the joint effort of Polish craftsmen, artists and engineers.
The business seminars are a new initiative forming part of the Economic Programme for Expo 2020 Dubai which will allow foreign investors to familiarise themselves with services, technologies and products developed by Polish entrepreneurs. The main objective of the seminars will be to establish business contacts and to present Polish experiences and potential in four areas – green technologies, space and aviation industry, smart cities, medical and pharmaceutical industry. On October 1, 2021, the largest promotional and economic event in the world will begin – Expo 2020 Dubai. The event was postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Poland is entering the key phase of preparations, for which the Polish Investment and Trade Agency is responsible.
The competition for designing outfits for Poland’s Pavilion staff at Expo 2020 Dubai has just been resolved. Among the projects of students of clothing design at the Faculty of Materials Technology and Textile Design of the Lodz University of Technology, the judges recognized Barbara Florczyk’s design as the best. The competition was organized by the university together with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency and the Łódzkie Region.
The greatest economic event of the year 2020 is to be postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The recruitment of 150 students from Polish universities to work in the Pavilion of Poland during Expo 2020 Dubai has started. Five universities expressed their interest in participating in the project – the Vistula University and the Vistula School of Hospitality, the University of Warsaw, Cracow University of Economics, the University of Lodz and Bialystok University.
