West Pomerania Region Week

West Pomerania at Expo 2025 – The Sea, Upcycling, and Jazz.
On May 23 and 24, 2025, the West Pomeranian Voivodeship showcased itself at Expo 2025 in Osaka, highlighting its strong ties to the sea, its modern ecological approach, and its artistic creativity.
Artifact – A Wave of Inspiration
The centerpiece of the presentation was “A Wave of Inspiration”, a spatial installation by Małgorzata Masłowska from the Kraftowe Studio. The piece symbolically represented the shoreline of West Pomerania as well as the Baltic Sea and the Oder River—two natural forces essential to the identity and history of the region.
Workshops and Educational Activities
The program featured upcycling workshops led by Wasted Couture, demonstrating how to create unique items from reclaimed materials. Every day also included hands-on crafts activities: “Baltic Treasures – Inspired by Amber” and “Flowers of Unity”—a paper flower-making presentation inspired by both Kashubian and Japanese traditions.
Jazz Concert
The highlight of the presentation was a jazz concert featuring Sylwester Ostrowski, Makoto Kuriya, the Dorrey Lin Lyles band, and Jakub Mizeracki. The performance took place in the intimate setting of the Poland Pavilion and was met with enthusiastic acclaim. The jazz format perfectly resonated with the open, multicultural spirit of the region.
The program also included a promotional film about the region and an animation set to the music of Fryderyk Chopin, offering a glimpse into the landscape, history, and atmosphere of West Pomerania.
