Presented by the Poland Pavilion within the official cultural program at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, this large-scale concert celebrates Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Held under the Pavilion’s official slogan, “Heritage That Drives the Future,” the performance explores the themes of diversity, creativity, and coexistence. Created by award-winning composer and producer Łukasz L.U.C. Rostkowski – named by Variety as one of the world’s top 15 film composers in 2023 – Symbiosis Symphony invites audiences on a unique, one-night-only musical journey. Visitors to Expo 2025 will have a unique opportunity to attend without prior registration – a valid Expo 2025 ticket for June 30 is required for entry. Symbiosis Symphony invites the audience on a musical journey through 12 chapters of European history, blending classical, electronic, and folk music with real-time visual art and AI-generated imagery. The performance creates a multisensory experience – a symphonic poem you can see. Twelve original compositions, each depicting a different historical era, will be premiered by nine acclaimed European composers. These works are brought to life by a collaboration between the international collective Rebel Babel Orchestra (with over 12,000 musicians from 20 countries) and Japan’s Amabile Philharmonic Orchestra, based in Osaka. The visual component is produced by Breakthru Films, the Academy Award-winning studio behind Loving Vincent, offering a painterly, immersive aesthetic that transforms the stage into a moving canvas. From the primal rhythms of ancient drums and flutes to reinterpretations of Hildegard von Bingen’s medieval melodies, Baroque grandeur from Bach and Vivaldi, Chopin’s lyrical piano, and the pulsing beats of Berlin techno – this musical experience embodies the harmony and friction of Europe’s cultural evolution.
What Does “Symbiosis” Mean Here? The title “Symbiosis” symbolizes more than coexistence – it embodies collaboration across cultures, generations, and disciplines. The concert brings together:
- Genres: Classical × Electronic × Folk
- Nations: Artists from 7 European countries and Japan
- Technologies: AI, animation, and street art
- Audiences: An immersive, participatory experience
