Only one year to go!

Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan has a set of broad ambitions. It will be a gateway through which to see, experience and imagine the future society for our lives and act as a springboard for realising and achieving the United Nations’ SDGs and beyond. It will be an opportunity for Japan to take its next leap forward – in terms of society, technology, and humanity, hand-in-hand with the next generation of young people, leaving a legacy of developing new thinkers, doers and leaders for future society and our lives.

Participant Pavilions

Expo 2025 will bring together a fascinating and inspiring array of participant pavilions – including International Pavilions from 161 countries and nine regions, eight Signature Pavilions housing eight Thematic Projects, 12 Private Sector Pavilions, the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion, the Women’s Pavilion in collaboration with Cartier, and of course, the Kansai and Japan Pavilions.

Future Society Showcase Projects

Demonstrating next-generation technologies and social systems to provide visitors with a sense of the future beyond 2025, while at the same time, implementing advanced technologies and social systems within Expo itself.

  • Smart Mobility Expo: A glimpse of the future that is already upon us. Flying Cars, robotics, advanced personal mobility, and emission-free transportation.
  • Virtual Expo: Experience Expo in the virtual world, from anywhere in the world.
  • Digital Expo: Showcasing the newest technology in all things digital – from personal agents for visitors, to automatic translation systems and more.
  • Art Expo: A array of imaginative and inspiring art installations across the Expo site, including the Water Show in the Water Plaza and the art installation in the Forest of Tranquillity.
  • Green Expo: Experience the very latest in cutting-edge green technology that will lead the world to a low-carbon future.
  • Future Life Expo: Visitors can immerse themselves in a future world and see how we might live, work, eat, move, and play in the cities of the future.

Expo 2025 Events

Throughout the six months of Expo, a vast array of events will be staged to entertain and educate visitors and participants alike. These will a mix Official Events, Organiser Events and Participatory Events. Official Events include the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, the National Days of participating countries and other Special Themed Days throughout Expo.

Organizer Events include programmes designed by the Expo 2025 Association and Signature Events coinciding with the eight thematic projects. Participatory Events will include a vast array of events organised by diverse stakeholder group making up Expo 2025. This can include local governments, Japanese government ministries, and events held within the various domestic, international, and private sector pavilions.

Theme Weeks

After their successful introduction at Expo 2020 Dubai, Theme Weeks will continue at Expo 2025. Taking advantage of having participating countries and visitors from around the world gathering in Osaka for the six months of Expo, the Theme Week programme will bring together international wisdom, experience and collaboration to work on solving global issues and exploring solutions through dialogue.

The programme will feature eight Theme Weeks covering the following themes: Co-creating Cultures for the Future, The Future of Community and Mobility, Necessities of Life: Food, Clothing and Shelter, Health and Wellbeing, Learning and Playing, Peace, Human Security and Dignity, The Future of Earth and Biodiversity and SDGs+ Beyond Future Society for Life.

Expo 2025 Ticketing      

Tickets are currently on sale, with discounted Advance Tickets going on sale from November 30, 2023. As of April 5, 2024, 1,227,601 advance tickets have been sold, a figure in line with the association’s expectations.
