Become the operator of the restaurant In the Poland Pavilion at EXPO 2020 Dubai
The Polish Investment and Trade Agency would like to announce a competition for the restaurant operator in the Poland Pavilion at EXPO 2020 in Dubai. The winner of the competition will be given the opportunity to run a commercial catering business for half a year, from October 2021 to March 2022. The deadline for submission of offers expires on 30 September 2020.
– We treat the competition for the restaurant operator in the Poland Pavilion at EXPO 2020 in Dubai, as part of the promotion of the Polish food industry at EXPO 2020 in Dubai, while giving the winner of the competition a unique opportunity for business development in the United Arab Emirates, also after the end of the Exhibition. We are committed not only to the promotion of our Polish culinary traditions, but also to the presentation of Poland as a country co-creating nutritional trends, a country of growing ecological awareness and culinary aesthetics, a country that respects seasonal and local products. Expo 2020 in Dubai, will be a celebration of dialogue, cooperation and exchange of ideas – we want the restaurant in the Poland Pavilion to be part of this – says Adrian Malinowski, the Commissioner general of the Polish Section of the World Exhibition EXPO 2020 in Dubai.
Competition participants are faced with the task of developing a restaurant concept, together with the offer of an assortment of dishes and an example menu, as well as a description of how the dishes will be prepared and served, together with a concept of logistic solutions and customer service standards.
When creating the concept, the participants of the competition should be inspired by the assumptions of Poland’s participation in the next World Exhibition, as well as the organizer’s guidelines for conducting gastronomic activities at EXPO 2020 in Dubai. The restaurant’s menu should take into account the varied habits and dietary restrictions of the visitors of the Exhibition, resulting from cultural and religious differences and individual food preferences. All products should be intended for on-site and take-out consumption.
Competition entries will be evaluated through the prism of experience (40%) and quality of the presented concept (60%). Account will be taken of, among other things, the variety of the assortment and the food preparation technology, country of origin of the produce, ways of serving the dishes and the concept of how the guests will be served.
In order to take part in the competition, participants must have at least 3 years experience in conducting gastronomic activities, adequate human resources and financial standing to enable them to run a restaurant at the World Exhibition EXPO 2020 in Dubai.
The winner of the competition will be provided with a gastronomy zone located on the ground floor, next to the children zone and the queue zone, designed as part of the architectural concept of the Poland Pavilion. The restaurant will have an open garden character and its area will be 197.18 m2, (including the back room area: approx. 71 m2). The restaurant operator will be responsible for the delivery and installation of all the catering equipment and products needed in order to ensure the constant operation of the restaurant as well as the recruiting and management of the required personnel.
Offers should be submitted by 16.00 on 30 September 2020.
