From 13 April to 19 April, the Podlasie Region Week is running in Poland Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. For seven days, Podlasie will delight Expo visitors with its culture, music, art and unique energy. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the region’s unique cultural and artistic heritage – from colourful traditions and handicrafts to modern interpretations of folklore and dynamic stage performances.

The Podlasie Region has prepared a packed programme of artistic and cultural events that will take place both in the workshop area of Poland Pavilion and on the Expo stages. Every day visitors will be able to immerse themselves in unique folklore, enjoy martial arts demonstrations and participate in concerts and theatre shows. All this in an atmosphere that combines tradition with modernity.

Folklore, sport and theatre – a programme full of attractions

One of the highlights of the programme will be the daily karate warm-up, led by Piotr Sawicki, a titled competitor from Podlasie. The athletic excitement will culminate in his meeting with master Ryū Narushima, whom he defeated in 1997 during the famous duel for the world championship in Karate Kyokushin. With children in mind, in turn, a performance has been prepared entitled ‘How to Use a S.T.I.C.K.’ based on an idea by Grzegorz Kasdepke, performed by students of the Białystok Theatre Academy. The performance shows in a playful way how an ordinary stick can turn into a tool for creative play.

Each day of Podlasie Week will conclude with a concert by the duo Sw@da & Niczos. The artists will present music inspired by the sounds of nature, folklore, hip-hop and electronica. Their song ‘Lusterka’ won second place in the Polish Eurovision qualifiers, and Sw@da himself is currently one of the most interesting voices of alternative music in Poland.

Functional art with a soul

The exhibition will also feature unique utilitarian objects associated with the region. Poland Pavilion will feature walonki, a type of warm boot, designed by Małgorzata Dmitruk, a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

These traditional shoes have been given a modern form – they are decorated with colourful pixels inspired by the Region’s logo, designed by Leon Tarasewicz. In addition to the boots, it will also be possible to see products made from double-weave fabric, characteristic of the Janów District.

Performances and attractions of the Podlaskie Region will accompany visitors from 13 April to 19 April. To take full advantage of this unique promotional programme, book a place in Poland Pavilion during your visit to the Expo.
