Poland. Mountain Week – Małopolska Region Week

Małopolska Region Week at Expo Osaka 2025 will showcase the region’s living heritage – from traditional craftsmanship and folklore to music and modern cultural promotion.
From August 10–16, 2025, the Poland Pavilion at Expo Osaka will invite World Expo visitors to experience the culture, tradition, and identity of Małopolska. Polish Mountain Week, held as part of Małopolska Region Week, will present the region’s heritage in a contemporary and engaging format.
The program will include concerts, workshops, live demonstrations, and special audiovisual presentations designed with an international audience in mind.
Tradition with a modern twist
The exhibition space will feature an animation inspired by the music of Fryderyk Chopin, along with a promotional film highlighting the cultural, natural, and social richness of the region.
Craftsmanship – everyday life turned into art
In the workshop zone of the pavilion, visitors will enjoy live demonstrations and activities introducing Małopolska’s artisanal traditions:
- “The Małopolska Way” – artistic workshops led by the Mystkowianie folk ensemble, showcasing local patterns, embroidery, costumes, and elements of folk craftsmanship.
- Salt sculpture demonstrations by miner-sculptors from the Wieliczka Salt Mine, presenting unique techniques of working with salt as an artistic material.
A special highlight of the program will be the unveiling of an original salt sculpture created especially for Expo – a piece that blends natural material, artistic mastery, and symbolic meaning rooted in the region’s identity.
Music from the heart of Małopolska
The artistic program includes two concerts:
- Mystkowianie Ensemble – a folk performance celebrating the musical and dance traditions of southern Małopolska.
- Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Kraków – a concert showcasing the achievements of one of Poland’s leading musical institutions.
A region with character
Małopolska Region Week at Expo Osaka 2025 will present Małopolska as a region of strong identity, rich heritage, and an innovative approach to cultural promotion. It will be a space for meaningful encounters – with people, with history, and with a present built on deeply rooted local values.
