Over the years, creating Poland’s image at the Expo has involved numerous presentations of the Polish economy, culture and natural resources and engagement of institutional and commercial partners. The country’s success at the event was often influenced by the spectacular architecture of the pavilions, which directly testified to Polish creativity.

The first national pavilions were built during the interwar period. They showed Poland’s economic achievements, presented its history and promoted the products of our companies. In 1939 in New York, took place the last exhibition with our participation before Word War II.
Poland has returned to Expo for good in 1992 in Seville. Poland participated in Expos in Lisbon (1998), Hannover (2000), Aichi (2005), Zaragoza (2008), Shanghai (2010), Milan (2015), Astana (2017) and Dubai (2021). In Dubai, the Poland Pavilion, the main theme of which was “Creativity inspired by nature”, received a Silver Medal from the organisers for the best interior design.
Expo 2020 Dubai
It was the first World’s Expo organised in a country in the Middle East region. The Poland Pavilion during World’s Expo 2020 Dubai was one of the most spectacular and most frequently visited national pavilions. The pavilion has received a silver award for the best interior design of medium size pavilions. The award was granted by the Bureau International des Expositions – the international organisation responsible for supervising and regulating World Exhibitions.
Expo 2015 Milan
World’s expo in Milan took place from May 1 to October 31, 2015, the theme of which was “Feeding the planet, energy for life”. This exhibition was a significant event for Poland. The Poland Pavilion and the exhibition presented not only the richness of culture and tradition of the nation but also innovation and the vision of the future.
Expo 2010 Shanghai
World’s Expo in Shanghai took place from May 1 to October 2010, the theme of which was “Better city, better life”. It focused on the notions related with the development of sustainable cities, urban innovations and environmental protection. The Poland Pavilion had a distinctive façade with a pattern inspired by the theme of a folksy cutout, which delighted the guests.
Expo 2005 Aichi
The World Expo in the Japanese prefecture Aichi was open for visitors from March 25 to September 25, 2005 and the theme of which was “Nature’s Wisdom”. The elevation of the Poland Pavilion was made using experimental technology based on a modular arrangement of spatially curved steel frames, entwined with white wicker. Poland’s exhibition was focused on Fryderyk Chopin and the Wieliczka Salt Mine.
Expo 2000 Hanover
“Man, nature and technology” – the idea of the World’ Expo in Hannover was showing the possibility of achieving the balance between the development of technology, man’s life and nature. The interior design of the Poland Pavilion consisted of a scenography based on the Polish tradition of 19th-century wooden manor houses and towns. Also, Polish regions promoted themselves in the pavilion which prepared various events and presentations.
