The World Expolympics, often referred to as the “Olympics of Experiential Design,” brought Poland two prestigious awards: a silver for the “Plantation of Ideas” installation and a bronze for Poland Pavilion in the medium-sized pavilions category.

The Experiential Design Authority (TEDA) announced the winners of the World Expolympics, which recognizes the most exceptional examples of experiential design at Expo 2025 in Osaka.

Poland was honored with two prestigious awards: bronze in the category “Best Medium Pavilion” and silver in the category “Best Exhibition / Display” for the installation “Plantacja Idei” (Plantation of Ideas).

The exhibition concept and design were created by Monika Brauntsch, Ewa Kierklo, Stanisław Kempa, and Wiesław Bartkowski.

The architectural design of Poland Pavilion was created by Alicja Kubicka and Borja Martínez from Interplay Architects. Their concept is based on the use of wood and an organic form, with lines intended to evoke associations with a wave of creativity. The façade, crafted using the “Kigumi Koho” wood-joining technique, pays tribute to the traditional architecture of both Poland and Japan.

“These awards are proof of the strength of Polish creativity and courage in storytelling through design. The jury appreciated both the overall concept of our pavilion and the unique vision of Plantacja Idei. It is a great honor and motivation to continue showcasing Poland to the world in such an inspiring way,” said Marta Zielińska, Deputy Commissioner General of the Polish Section at Expo 2025.

As the organizers emphasize, the World Expolympics is often referred to as the “Olympics of Experiential Design”, as it “shines a spotlight on the artistry, innovation, and cultural storytelling that define world expos.”

Winners were selected by a 32-member international jury of distinguished architects, experiential designers, and exhibit/event industry professionals, who evaluated entries based on criteria such as concept/design, creativity/innovation, engagement/immersion, execution, and overall impact.
