Design outfits competition

The competition to select the designer of the concept of the outfits for the staff of the Polish Pavilion at the World Exhibition Expo 2020 Dubai has started. The participants are students of clothing design of the Lodz University of Technology, who prepared their projects as part of their study program.

Out of approximately 30 final assignments of students of fashion design, the lecturers of the Faculty of Materials Technology and Textile Design of the Lodz University of Technology will select the 10 best projects to participate in the next stage. Those designers will be asked to prepare detailed  documentation of their design. The works will then be assessed in terms of meeting the requirements of: attractiveness, compliance with the slogan of the Polish Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai - "Creativity inspired by nature" and visual identification, the combination of latest trends and tradition, comfort and safety.

From among the finalists, the Competition Committee consisting of members of the Expo 2020 Dubai Team and representatives of the Lodz University of Technology will select the winner, whose project will be implemented. The laureate can also count on the promotion of their work and creativity as part of the Expo 2020 Dubai communication program, coordinated by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.

The aim of the competition, besides choosing the best design, is to increase students' competences by engaging in project works as part of the unique, largest economic event in the world. The involvement of students is also to shape the image of Poland as a country of creative, well-educated designers, aware of the nature and scale of Expo World Exhibitions.

- Our cooperation with the Lodz University of Technology and its students reflects the motto of the upcoming World Exhibition - "Connecting minds, we create the future". This is another sign that as part of the Expo 2020 Dubai program, we engage young, talented students from Polish universities, after all, students will also be involved in staffing the Polish Pavilion. The design students' works are also a confirmation of Polish creativity, which is at the center of our message during Expo. - says Adrian Malinowski, Commissioner General of the Polish Section Expo 2020 Dubai.

The competition is being carried out as part of the cooperation agreement on the program of Poland's participation in the World Exhibition Expo 2020 Dubai concluded between the Polish Investment and Trade Agency and the Lodz University of Technology. It is not the only initiative of the University related to Expo 2020 Dubai. As part of the region’s promotion program, students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering will also develop a concept for the exhibition of the Lodz Region in the temporary exhibition zone in the Pavilion of Poland.
